Current Definition Knowledge Construction
A methodological approach which assumes that knowledge is not out there (and therefore needs to be only acquired), but needs to be constructed. Knowledge construction can be contrasted with knowledge acquisition, which assumes that an expert's knowledge may be "acquired" by a knowledge engineer and entered into an expert system. Knowledge construction is a driving force behind the evolution of and the SER model in DODEs.
